I want to know if I can use a scuba tank or a beverage CO2 tank to fill paintball CO2 tanks. If I can which adapter do I need and where can I get it?

Also are there places where they fill tanks of this size?

  1. Yes, adapters and pressure regulators are readily available for charging paintball guns from a SCUBA tank.  There used to be a place around here that ran a dive operation in the quarry and had three paintball fields around it.

Just ask at your local paint ball supplier - this is commonly done so they should have one in stock.

  2. Scuba tanks can only be used to fill air tanks for paintball. They cannot be filled with co2 or fill up a co2 tank. My friend was in this situation as well, and I will tell you what he did.

He sold his co2 tanks and bought one nice air tank. This is a huge advantage on the field anyway.

Found an adapter like you are talking about on ebay for about $30 http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Scuba-FILL-STATI...

Searched the phone book for scuba stores nearby. They will fill up a scuba tank for about $10 and it will last for about 20 fills.

The only downfall of a scuba tank is that it can only fill a tank up to 2000 psi, but otherwise, it is a very good thing to have for paintball.

  3. Never fill a Co2 tank with HPA from a scuba tank.

Normal pressure for Co2 is about 800PSI and HPA is typically 3000PSI to 4500PSI.  The tank cannot handle the pressure.

Scuba tanks are for filling HPA tanks:

Bulk Co2 tanks with siphon tubes are for filling Co2 tanks:

I rent Two 50lb Co2 tanks with siphon tubes from a Welding Supply Store.

  4. No.
