Is there an adapter that would allow me to use the lenses from my Canon AE-1 on my Canon xti?

Maybe a stupid question, but considering the price of lenses, it seems worth it to ask. If there is such a thing, would they hurt the quality of the photos?

I have an old Canon from the 70's and a bunch of lenses for it, but the body no longer works. I also have a Canon EOS 400D / Digital Rebel XTi but I only have one lens for it.

  1. You can find them on ebay. The focal lengths are different on the older FD lenses and adapting is tricky. Many have reported soft results, or ones that didnt even focus to infinity any more.

When looking for adapters you will want one that has glass in it and not just a simple mount. The glass will help correct the focal difference, but quality is still a c**p shoot.

  2. There are inexpensive adaptors, but they'll degrade your lens's quality so much, you'll be disappointed.

Canon pretty much abandoned the FD mount when they unveiled the all electronic EF lenses.
