I have cable and would like to use my projector to watch TV the only problem is it only can take input through S- Video OR AV. There is also another spot that intakes video, but I do not know what it is called it is a rectangular plug with small prongs inside, and has the ability to s***w in on both sides of the rectangle. Thanks!

  1. the rectangle one is called vga

is there a component red green blue on your cable box if there is you can use component to vga cable and this will be the best picture possible

if your cable box has scart only you can buy a scart to s-video converter for about 3 quid then you can run an s-video from scart to projector.

dont forget you will need a sound system to play sound as projectors have limited or no sound.

your cable box should have a red and white output for sound

  2. You need a tuner of some kind. The cheapest is probably a VCR ... at least for standard televison. An alternative is a cable receiver box.

Either can output an S-video signal (assuming they have the right output). If not you could always use composite.
