  1. Brandon, I really don't understand why guys worry so much about getting a physical.  I guess they're worried about a doctor looking at their genitals and touching them or something.  It's not something to worry about it - doctors do it all the time and they're very clinical about it and VERY detached.  When you think about the huge number of crotches an average doctor sees in his/her life, you'd laugh to think that some guys are worried about it.

I'll include a link from a real doctor that talks about the physical exam.  I think you'll learn a lot from it.

Bottom line Brandon is that there is NOTHING to be worried about man.  The doctor wants to check your body to see that everything is ok.

They'll usually ask you to undress down to your underwear or perhaps take those off too.  The doctor will normally start out by looking at your body to make sure there are no unusual marks or lumps or anything like that.  He wants to see if your spine is straight and that sort of thing.

He'll probably look in your eyes, ears, nose and mouth to see if everything's ok there.  He may ask you to read something from a chart on the wall to see what your eyesight is like.

Then, he (or she) will check your blood pressure, your respiration and your pulse.  He'll use a stethoscope to listen to your lungs and your heart and will get you to take some deep breaths and cough so he can hear how your lungs are working.

After that, he may ask to lay on your back on teh examination table so he can palpate (feel) your belly.  He wants to see that everything is normal there and there are no unsual growths or anything in that area.

From there, he'll probably check out your crotch.  He'll look at your p***s to make sure it's ok and there are no growths or rashes or anything like that and he'll check your testicles for the same reason.  He may take your testicles in his fingers and roll them around to make sure there are no unusual bumps or lumps on them.  Then, he'll probably get you to stand up, he'll hold your testicles, ask you to turn your head and cough.  He wants to see if they pull up the way they shoudl when you cough - if they don't, you could have a hernia in your groin and he wants to know about that becasue those can cause you trouble.  It will probably take him about one minute to do all that.

Some guys worry they'll get a hardon when the doctor touches their genitals.  Most of the time it does NOT happen but if it does, don't sweat it.  Doctors see all kinds of erections and they are not surprised or upset if you get one - they just continue on.  It will go away fairly fast.

After that, he'll get you to sit down and probably check your reflexes with the little hammer.  He'll probably check your elbows, knees and ankles to see if they respond the way they should.

From there, he'll likely move down to your feet and check for proper circulation and that sort of thing.

    And that will be that.

Now, most guys get worried about what we call the "digital rectal exam" (DRE).  This is the one where the doctor checks your prostate by putting his finger (wearing a glove and lubricated with medical lubricant) into your r****m and feeling your prostate for any bumps or lumps that shouldn't be there.  MOST of the time, unless the doctor is worried about your prostate, they don't this exam on guys under about 30 years old.  If the doctor decides that he needs to check your prostate, he'll get to you to lean over the examination table and he'll spread your cheeks so that he can insert his finger.  No question - it is uncomfortable and guys hate it, but it's usually done pretty fast and it's over before you know it.  But, like I said, it's not common to do with younger guys unless the doctor has a question.

Ok, that's about it.  Does that help?  Good luck and check out the link below that I'm including.  It has some excellent information.

  2. Oh, it just gets better and better with stress tests and prostate exams.

  3. Your physical will not necessarily change as you age. The doctors will do the same types of test, and as you get older, more test will be added.

  4. yeah...if they you think they are invasive now....wait till you have to get a prostate exam......yikes!
