this says it's the biggest kite every made...and i'm sure joe smoe could do whatever you want him too....i guess...

  2. No. Jo Schmo could NOT fly a kite 1,000ft across. That much lift would lift JoSchmo off the ground; then as soon as the "anchor" was broken, the kite would succumb to the wind and fall to the earth.

You'd need more anchoring weight than even my big fat uncle Albert could provide.

  3. Never heard of an air traffic law on kites, but here is some info on the worlds largest kite:

  4. I love this question.  One time I was flying a kite on the levee right below where all the planes were descending as they approached the airport.   It was a busy flying day, the planes were coming one every 5 minutes.  Next thing I noticed they changed their landing pattern to about a mile west of me.  No authorities ever came to question me.  Go figure!

  5. I believe the height limit for a major kite is 500 feet, in a no low altitude area.

  6. 1. Definition: A kite is a tethered heavier-than-air craft that depends only on the wind for lift.

    2. By order of the Federal Aviation Administration, a kite whose weight exceeds 5 pounds cannot be flown more than 500 feet above the surface of the earth without prior FAA authoBy order of the Federal Aviation Administration, the weight of a kite must not exceed 5 pounds and altitude of flight must not exceed 500 feet. The Washington Monument is 555 feet high.

  7. it never hurts to try, good luck, sounds expensive and time consuming though.
