Hi, this LinnMN. THANKS to all for the good answers to my last question, They are Much Appreciated !!

Looking for a ONE product solution for worms, viruses, spyware, etc. Is there anything available so that various scans (and annoying restarts) can be automatically taken care of ? Is there one that is the BEST one ?, re, I still can't get annoying Norton messages off my screen after letting the program expire more than a year ago, doesn't show in add/remove. Thanks in advance !

  1. I hate to say this, but there no one solution to computer security. With all of the writers of malware, spyware, Trojans, rootkits, viruses, and worms there's no way one company can truly track them all. The best you can do is use a good firewall, a good antivirus, with a good antispyware program that can active scan (works on it's own), and one that is passive (it scans when you tell it too). Also you must keep both your computer security programs, and your operating system up to date. Out of date programs are worthless in to days environment. One more trick, watch out where you go on the net, and what comes in your e-mail, the malware writers are attacking there too.

  2. I can't recommend Avira AntiVir enough ( http://www.free-av.com/ ) I use it on all my personal machines as it is free, has regular updates and touch wood, I've never had an infection (though I've seen plenty of warnings).

The best protection though, is a sensible user. Be careful of emailed attachments, never run downloaded torrents or fileshares (these are often riddled with viruses) and if in doubt, scan suspicious files.

  3. definatley BULLGUARD it's the best thing

we haven't had a virus for 3 years now and it is great

  4. avg, search and destroy, mccafe, trendmicrohousecall,

    i haven't had a viruses since

i didn't install all of these but i did have trendmicrohousecall.

  5. "NOD32" is the best ever

    other suggestions would be "KasperSky".
