Is there an alternative auction site? Ebay are putting their fees up once again!?

The fees on ebay are getting ridiculous, on a buy it now, under $100 they are taking nearly 10%, then I loose another 4% taking payment with Pay pal, including the money I take for shipping, even though, now they have the stars I have to make sure I only charge actual postage, so I loose money on shipping every time. Does anyone know of a GOOD alternative auction site, one that has a growing number of buyers. I have tried Etsy, but if you aren't on the first 5-10 pages you are effectively invisible, so you have to list every third day really to stay current. So, do you have any other ideas? x

  1. Read the REST of the announcement - listing fees for fixed price went down 70%.

ebay is still the king and will be for a long time yet.

Amazon charges 15% commission and nobody else has respectable traffic.

Deal with the changes instead of running from them.

  2. personally your best off with jtbids no listing fees and all other fees lower than ebays the site is new and needs a lot more members but we are spending a lot of money with advertising at the moment so i really would suggest you get your items listed asap ready for people to see all the best

  3. I don't know the answer to this question; but I'm watching it.  If you get a good answer, I will give my vote.

  4. Although the idea of just taking it in the rear like a good little plod while they cater to large sellers of garbage is appealing, there are any number of alternative sites. Haven't found any large ones yet, but they are all growing, what with eBay pissing on everyone who wants to actually auction an item.

http://www.ebid.com/ (provides "sponsered" links to eBay. Pretty much c**p, IMHO)

  5. yeah even I also tired of this, so I checked site which is alternative to eBay called silkfair, here we can list items for free.

  6. uBid is one, amazon is another, craigs list is another site to go to also

  7. My advice is: Stop trying to sell on the Internet.  If you're not willing to accept change, the Internet is going to chew you up and spit out the seeds.

You can go to one of the free auction sites where they have no fees... oh, and no buyers.  You can pay the big bucks to sell on Amazon.  Or you can accept that eBay delivers an acceptable service at a fair price.
