My doctor keeps prescribing antibiotic after antibiotic and somehow they don't work, plus they cannot be healthy to be on repeated doses like that, right?

  1. Colloidal Silver 1-3tablespoons per day, use for 10days.

  2. Chlorseptic works for me. I don't like anitibotics of any kind as think they ruin your immune system.

  3. hot water mixed with lemon and honey...my friend also swore by warm lemon juice freshly squeezed mixed with salt and gargle

  4. (use as directed)

Acidophilus - to replenish friendly bacteria wiped out by the antibiotics.

Bee Propolis - Protects mucous membranes of the mouth and throat.

Garlic capsules - For improved immune function.

Zinc lozenges - For pain relief, healing and improved immune function.

Echinacea and Goldenseal to fight the bacterial infection.

  5. you could try gargeling salt water. or eating frozen fruit

  6. Considering you have had repeated rounds of antibiotics you should begin taking a probiotic, the antibiotics have also killed off much of the good bacteria in your intestines. Probiotics will help re-establish that. Oil of oregano is a good natural antibiotic. Vitamin C is also good for building the immune system.Gargle with warm salt water or a mouthwash that contains tea tree oil. I would think that yeast would also be abundant at this point, Olive leaf would help with that. Stay away from sugar, caffeine, nicotine and alcohol while you are recovering from this. Undistilled apple cider vinegar and local honey (from within 10 miles of where you live) mixed in water and drank a couple times a day. Undistilled vinegar has natural probiotics and honey has antibiotic properties and helps boost immune system...local is also good for desensitizing to local pollens. Fresh fruits and veggies, stay away from highly processed foods, choose lean meats, stay away from fast food. You may want to consider a sinus rinse,(with water and sea salt, not table salt as it contains iodine and may be very irritatiing) many times what ever the invading bacteria is can reside in nasal passages also.  Results may not be as immediate as with prescription drugs but once your body has strengthened itself (a couple of weeks) you should be able to knock this out. Keep taking the oil of oregano and oil leaf for at least 4 weeks to get rid of as much yeast overgrowth as possible.

  7. Honey and lemon with a very little fresh grated ginger. Make it hot, it is very soothing and of course safe.

  8. These pill pushing doctors !!  Antibiotics only do any good on about 1/10 the cases they are prescribed on.  Usually do more harm than good.  Anti biotic means anti life.

You need to get off the stupid anti bio-tics and get on a good Pro Biotic to counter the destruction of anti bio tics.

Dr. Ohhera's Probiotic +12 can be found on line.  It was developed by a Dr. in Japan.

Sore throat; take oil of oregano capsules. Olive leaf extract both can be found in a health store.   Good luck

  9. antiboitics are no good unless its a bacterial infection ... honey and lemon is good

  10. You need to try different antibiotics.  Strep can be a pain to get rid of, but allowing it to fester can cause serious problems in the future.  In fact, the number one cause of heart valve problems later in life is caused by an earlier strep infection.  Eat right, drink OJ, get good rest, and take the antibiotics.

  11. I would agree with the nurse above me and offer some additional dietary advice:

Remember that a sore throat that does not develop in to cold symptoms could be strep throat and would need antibiotics.  Get swabbed after three days if you only have a sore throat and a fever, headache and nothing else.  Then it is strep.

  12. Most sore throats are viral, and don't need antibiotics.  But, hopefully the three different antibiotics were based on cultures and sensitivities from the throat swab.  If not, you need to have a repeat culture done and see what antibiotics your strain is resistant to.

There is the possibility that you also have Mono as well as Strep.  Were you given a blood test for mono as well as the throat swab?

Penicilllin is still the first line drug for proven strep throat, but there is increased resistance to it as it has been around for so long...as well as because of overuse where it is not needed.  The overuse of antibiotics is largely patient driven, not physician driven.

Group A strep is the only one we worry about, because of the potential it has to cause other long term problems such as kidney damage, or damage to the valves or your heart from untreated rheumatic fever.

  13. Right!

The other & better way is prevention. If u r a smoker, u have 2 stop. If some one close 2 u smokes, ask the person 2 stop smoking or  at least not smoke when u r around.

Be on the watch & note if there r certain foods which trigger the sore throat like some foods like pickle etc. Avoid that food.

  14. My fellow Texan...

you got a lot of answers but really you need to see ANOTHER physician. That many antibiotics can lead to a condition called Thrush. this is where the antibiotics have caused the depletion of the natural bacteria in your mouth..

the little girl who is a Top Contributor read off to you all the answers from a website....

the best of your answers are to stop smoking if you smoke.

to gargle with warm salt water and with aspirin crushed up in the gargle..

lemon, hot tea and honey is good....

and the guy who told you that antibiotics only work on bacterial infections...well...you told him that it was strep...which is a BACTERIAL infection from streptococcus

bacterias....but they have a tendency to get antibiotic desensitized...so...back to the beginning...

    SEE A NEW DOCTOR.

OH ! The post nasal drip problem solution would be good if it was not already diagnosed as strep throat...

nothing new in this answer other than Miss Texas Rose...

get to the Urgent Care Center today and get that throat cleared up... at this point I would ask for a new throat culture.

from an old man who knows...LOL

  15. Hi there.....depends on what's causing the sore throat.

Has your doctor taken a swab of your throat to determine the bacteria that is causing the soreness (if it is indeed a bacteria)?

If he hasn't and continues to prescribe an antibiotic, he is shirking his duties!  To keep prescribing antibiotic after antibiotic and not know what the cause of the soreness is, is gross neglect in a physician.

You may have a post nasal drip that is irritating your throat.

You may have a viral infection that an antibiotic won't touch.

You may have something else going on with your body.

No they are not healthy to continue taking them as your body becomes immune to them and when you really need them, they won't do you any good.

Please change doctors and explain your problems and the antibiotics you have taken and for how long you've taken them.  Plus any tests that were done or not done.

Gargle with really warm salt water several times a day for a couple days.  There are throat sprays to numb the pain, plus tylenol or ibuprofen.  Take 2-3000 Vit C every 4 hours for several days.  Eat healthy and get at least 8 hours sleep each night.

    Good luck

    I am an RN

  16. gargle, apple cider vinegar.....its disgusting but it works....make sure its warm...
