Is there an alternative to a Sky+ box?

I no longer pay for sky yet i still have the box. Unfortunately, sky are robbing b*****ds and have removed the recording facility even though i have paid for the box.

Are there any alternatives that i can plug into the reciever cable to use in place of the box and record in the same way?

I live in the sticks and CAN NOT recieve a signal on a digi-box thingy, so it has to be via the dish on the side of the house. Any help would be appreciated.

  1. there will be, Humax have announced that the eagerly anticipated Humax Freesat PVR/DTR will be unveiled at the IBC show in Amsterdam, September 12th - 16th, and its release into the consumer market will take a few more months after that.

there are other receivers available that hve PVR functions but they are not as easy to use, are more expensive than sky+, only have one tuner, no series links etc., you need to manually tune channels. best to wait for Humax to release its freesat pvr box

  2. there is an alternative to a sky + box there are lots of DVD recorders with a hard drive any one will do
