Is there an alternative to the 80Gb iPod classic? ?

Is there any other product on the market that can challenge the 80Gb iPod classic in terms of features and price (£140). When I last bought one (a 30Gb iPod Photo) there were Sony and Creative products that were pretty much equivalent. After my last iPod died I'm willing to look elsewhere.

  1. There is Archos, Creative, Zune and Sony.

Sony and Apple have similar build quality but the ipod is about 40 times easier to use.

the Creative and Zune have awful quality, many features but tricky to use and keep working even Microsoft give away iPods in promotions not their own Zune!

then there is Archos. but thats more expensive and tricky to set up. but similar spec but not quite the robust nature of the ipod.

  2. As far as music geared mp3 player in that capacity, there is really only the iPod and the Zune 80.  The Zune has a few more features than the iPod, such as an FM tuner and wireless sync capabilities, and they are both around the same price.  There are a ton of other players out there, but most use flash memory now and can't get to that storage capacity yet.  There are a few models that come in 32GB capacities, the Creative Zen and Sandisk Sansa View are both good, feature-packed options.  These players also support high capacity SD and Micro SD cards, so you can add up to 12GB of additional storage at a time to them.  Sony has players available in up to 16GB capacities, the NWZ A 720 and 820 series.  There are more video-focused players that come with 80GB or more of internal storage, the Archos 605 Wifi being one of them.

  3. not really, the creatives are the closest thing and aren't as good in my opinion. if you get the ipod buy new headphones because the apple ones are the worst i've ever had.
