Please do not pay attention to max wattage.  Many companies now are only listing max watts, which those amplifiers cannot reach.  RMS is the only wattage figure to pay attention to.

There are plenty of 1000 and 500 watt amplifiers.  It all depends on the ohm load, you are presenting them and if they are stable at that load.
