Question:

Is there an answering machine that requires the caller press a button?

Currently I get a lot of "empty" messages on answering machine at my new home's phone number. The "messages" are 10 seconds of silence and I get 3 or 4 a day. I'm guessing this is from an automated telemarketing system and I'd like an answering machine that requires callers who want to leave a message to press a button. This should filter out the real calls from the spam calls.

Can anyone suggest an inexpensive model that does this?

  1. If they can reach your machine to press a button they don't need to call you. What you should do is register your # with the Gov. do not call system. That won't stop the bill collectors but will get rid of the spam. the URL is:   "donotcall.gov"
