Question:

Is there an appropriate movie for children that shows what happens when you don't go to school?

My elementary aged son thinks school is boring and doesn't think he needs to go.

I was hoping to get him a movie, or book about a child who decided the same and what happens (hopefully neg) if they don't go.

  1. Waterboy.  I'm assuming Adam Sandler's character in that movie did -not- attend normal grade school.  (Tho he does attend a college later in the film)

In a small part in Mr. Deeds, there is a homeless man that specifically says in his line to some kids, "Look at me!  School is for fools!"

I'm sure the odds that homeless people went through school is basically slim to none.  So you could itterate that most of those people, who live on the street (and are involved in possibly worse things), have to fight to live, have no basic skills that going to grade school would have helped them have.  And with having a good job, with having education behind you, you can provide food and shelter for yourself and you'd never have to worry.  Sometimes homeless people freeze to death in the winter because of lack of having a home they can pay for.

Sorry, this is all I got.  And saw that no one else has answered your question yet.  A lot of kids are dumb about school.  And since they do not have an adult mind, they just can't see that far into the future to realize what they might take for granted.
