  1. What national standard?

Some states have stricter rules and regulations regarding homeschooling.  In most states homeschools are considered private schools.  B&M private schools have no state inspections or regulations, so neither to homeschools.

I don't know where Fangtaiyang gets his/her info...quote "each state has its own standards and people that home school must meet school district requirements and have permission from the local school district. Home schooled children must meet the same requirements as regular school students in order to graduate."  That is simply NOT TRUE.

Here's a site with state HS'ing laws if you're interested:

  2. There is no "national standard."

There are "state standards," which are abysmally low.

Now, ask yourself: what happens in a country where there is an authority that controls education?

    Ever hear of China?

  3. That depends on the state. There is no "national standard". Each school district has it's own standard. Homeschoolers are sometimes viewed as private schooled students by the state.

In most states, the homeschool parents are totally in charge of their children's upbringing and education. There is no oversight by the government or public schools. Some parents homeschool under a private school and the private school may have certain standards that must be met.

I don't worry about the lack of oversight by the government. It's my job to make sure my kids are getting an education. Besides, research is on the side of homeschoolers.

  4. A. There is no national standard for education.  each state has its own standards and people that home school must meet school district requirements and have permission from the local school district.  Home schooled children must meet the same requirements as regular school students in order to graduate.

  5. There are varying levels of involvement by state governments.  Washington state is more involved than some, not as much as others.
