  1. Yes, and it doesn't even have to be that clever. You know the teacher, and age bracket, everything does not have to be apple oriented.

A gift card is nice. I think teachers would love to have something normal for once!

Maybe a card too just thanking them for being such a constant positive in your childs life and a strong influence on their educations.

  2. Yes, Summer Vacation.

  3. As a teacher, I never expect to receive present from children, but it is so apprieciated when I do! Many of the parents will give a special gift to remember them and their child, or a cute craft that you and your child made together, or perhaps homemade chocolates or biscuits, etc. It is so wonderful and thoughtful, and makes a teacher feel really appreciated!

  4. My mother ALWAYS picked out end-of-the-year presents for my teachers when I was in elementary school, as did most of the other parents. I think it's a good way to extend thanks to the teacher and let them know that you appreciate what they do for your child. It doesn't have to be anything big. A candle, a bottle of perfume, a book, a gift card, even a bouquet would probably be very much appreciated. No matter what you give, be sure to include a sincere letter or card from both you and your son--this is the part teachers treasure most!

This is all assuming, of course, that you and your son both like the teacher--do you?

  5. i do this every year and the teachers LOVE it.

i take up a collection from all the parents (usually between $5-$10 dollars) and purchase a gift card to the teachers favorite store.

  6. Yes, end of year presents are common.  We've had a few years where the room mother pulled together a gift from everyone.  My favorite was a scrapbook with a picture and note from each child.  After a few years of teaching teachers end up with a lot of little gifts and I thought this one had some meaning.

  7. I think that some parents do give end of year presents.     It is always appreciated by teachers, but it is not expected.

At the end of the year, I generally try to ask the parents to chip in so that the gift is a little nicer.

A personal gift is good, like a movie passes; gift certificate to a book store or nail salon.

There are a lot of teachers who use their own money to buy supplies for the class room.   A gift certificate to an office supply store would certainly be appreciated.

  8. Last year I gave my son's teacher a gift certificate to a spa.  They do nails and massages and stuff.  I think I paid $20.00 for it, but it was one of those deals where you pay one price and the certificate price is doubled. She loved it!

  9. I give the teacher and bus driver a present at the end of the year.   http://www.familyfun.go.com is a great site if you are crafty.

  10. a good present to a teacher is like maybe a 20 dolller gift card to block buster or a rent a movie place or best but and then get a pop corn contaner and put a bunch of movie ooies inside ..hope htis helps

  11. Yes, a small gift is thoughtful and appropriate for kindergarten and elementary school teachers, both at Christmas and year-end.  A pretty houseplant; gift card to Staples (teachers buy a lot of stuff for their classrooms there, so this gift amounts to replenishing some of the supplies your child used for the next batch of kids!) or other store; a pair of movie or theatre tickets/gift card; something a little more personal if you know her hobbies.
