Question:

Is there an energy-alternative for a city's mobile Diesel Sidewalk Cleaner?

My city uses a horizontal portable diesel-fired hot high pressure washer unit to clean the sidewalks downtown. Is there an alternative-energy unit that I can suggest to the city public works dept. that would (a) not use fossil fuel; and (b) give them the hot water & pressure needed to do the job? Two men operate the present unit, rolling it up and down main street twice a week, emitting a lot of fumes. This is a big tourist city, so a clean downtown is very important.

Present unit looks like http://www.dcs1.com/del/pressure-washers/4020peo.html

  1. Use electric motors. It saves people and gas and CO2. Or just use the unemployed. Or if you have to use the chaain gang

  2. Not an alternative that wouldn't simply shift the energy burden somewhere else.

  3. chain gang, get those criminals sitting in prison to do it

  4. The chain gang is a good thing. Get those guys to some community service. I gotta think they can make a broom that can be used as a weapon.

And the shackles are reusable and recyclable

no joke, it would work - but we cant do that right? they need their televisions and weight sets to better themselves not pay back a society they enacted crimes against - that would be against their rights.

    Criminals - enough said

  5. I saw them using scotch broom brooms in Europe to clean the street.   Hire a few unemployed people to sweep them every day.
