Is there an enviromentally friendly option to aerosol spray paint?

At work I use aerosol spary paints for certain things. I have heard that these are harmful to the environment and cause air polution. Are there any safer options for spary aerosol paint?

A pump sprayer or air compressor powered sprayer would be more environmentally friendly than a propellant based aerosol.

I am thinking something like a pesticide sprayer that can generate high enough pressures to atomize paint.  see link

Use regular latex paint in a rented or purchased electric paint sprayer.

I second the motion for the electric paint gun or an air powered paint gun, if the quality of the paint job is very important. Aerosol cans, however, are convenient for small projects or doing touch-ups.
