  1. Hello,

The only equipment that I can think of is the sticks it self. Unless you are already take Filipino martial arts, you can practice by yourself (what you've learned in class). I do not; in my opinion suggest training yourself in what you see in training videos or what you read on books. Although it is a good guide for armatures and advance martial artist, it will never compare to a certified or capable Guro/instructor.

It is worse when you think you are doing the 'right' move when in actuality you are doing it all wrong, nobody can correct you. And you end up doing bad habits. When you do join a class, the bad habits follow you and it’s like relearning everything again.

It is ideal to practice with a partner but it is also possible to practice by yourself like shadow boxing. But again I stress that you need to learn first 'how to practice with a partner' before practicing yourself. The only way to do this is to join a school or a group that studies FMA (arnis, escrima,Kali etc.).

I hope you consider this and no matter what martial art you take, it will not be easy. It will take hard training and dedication to be good at anything, there are no short cuts (and there will be allot of cuts if you decide to pursue arnis).

    Take care,

    Phil
