  1. What's  this " further " bit? Isn't straight the name of the game or are you going for the long drive contest title?  The length of the driver has as big an influence on distance as does the ball.  All balls used on the USGA tournaments have to be on the approved list for tournament use and the player is confined to the " one ball" rule.

  2. They used to use pinnacle's in the long drive comps. I imagine they wouldn't be using balls that didn't go a long way.

  3. bridgestone is supposively the longest ball in golf but who really knows, unless your a pro or a long driver competitor you'll never know the difference

  4. Taylor Made TP Red is a SUPER ball. Oddly enough, a couple of months ago, a prominant golf mag. tested all kinds of balls and the longest ball off the driver was the Srixon ladies ball. Go figure. But one other note of interest. The difference between the longest and shortest ball was only 7 yards. With this being the case, I would opt for FEEL over DISTANCE. Having CONFIDENT in a certain ball, any ball you happen to like, will probably bring YOU more distance by virtue of mentally being at ease, thus swinging better.

  5. Looking for the best? Look at what the pros play. There is a reason that Titleist and Nike are the most common balls on tour... The difference to the average golfer is minimal, however the feel of the Pro V1 or Nike One far covers the extra 2, 3  or 4 yards you may get from a rock hard ball.... then you sacrifice spin and feel

  6. Pro V1 and titeles r good

  7. Unless you are a 5 or under handicapper, forget about noticing a difference with Pro V1's. They will fly the same as any other ball if you do not  have the ability to spin them and control your draws and fades. If you are a 10-20+ handicapper (like me), i recommend Bridgestone e6+. They have an incredible feel and arnt overly expensive. Distance is good with them too.

  8. titleist, and nike arent meant to be hit far, even though the do fly comparatively far, but they also give  more feel than other balls. the absolute farthest, off of irons at least is top flight.

but as far as feel goes, the call them rock flights for a reason

  9. if your swing speed is 95 mph (about average) and your club is fit for your swing, it won't really matter what ball you hit for distance.  Golf Magazine (golf.com) did an article awhile back testing 54 different models of golf ball.

Distance-wise, there's only 8 yards difference between the longest and shortest ball (excluding the Nike One Platinum- you need a swing speed of 100+ mph to activate the core to make it fly).

Around the green is where the premium balls show their worth.  The $40+ balls spin more than the $15 balls.

It's all a matter of what you want.  Check out the article and you'll be able to make a very informed decision.

  10. Forget what the pros use.  (1) They get paid big bucks to play those balls and will change balls if the money is better with a different sponsor, and (2) They are so good it doesn't really matter which ball they use (its not the ball), and (3) the pros need a ball with different characteristics because they are good enough to control the ball, shape shots, control backspin, etc.

Most pros do not need more distance, so they really don't care about that.  Most amateurs would love extra distance.  Similarly, most pros want the ball to spin so that they can chape shots and apply backspin on the green.  Most amateurs do not want spin because a high-spin ball will slice or hook much worse on bad shots.  Pros also do not care about the cost of balls becaue they get them for free, whereas amateurs have to buy their own balls so cost is a determining factor.

IMO, the Nike PowerDistance Soft is absolutely the best ball for the money these days.  They are $15 a dozen (1/3 the pice of premium balls), and I can tell you for certain that they are longer than a ProV1.  Consumer Reports magazine rates the Power Distance Soft as the best buy.  Consumer Reports rates the Nike One Black as the best ball without regard to price.

  11. bridgestone e6s dont use titlest prov1s they suck if you arnt single digit handicaper
