    My answer is yes, it is the same irony that there is in the case of freedom or power that never comes without commensurate responsibility.


  2. I would say yes, because although the choice is considered to be ours, it is soooo interdependant on the choices of others that it renders us choiceless and a meer pawn in the scope of the choices of the world

    What is irony?  The answer to that question seems to be misunderstood somewhat by those who've taken a crack at this Q.

    Irony is about unintended consequences (usually the opposite of the intended) which are caused by willful efforts to make something in particular happen.

    Indeed making a choice implies the inherent irony of letting go of the other options. It is like you can't eat the cake and have it too....... thus the irony is that the choice represents a limitation as much as a freedom to choose.
