  1. You can rally your friends around the cause and donate to WWF, whose efforts to educate the public regarding global climate change is to be commended.

Also, maybe the school has a newletter and you could write an article to help educate your fellow students.

  2. I don't think you need to

  3. Recently, my high school has been holding meetings for just this.  It's called "Earth Sustainability".  We have been recognized on local news and it has really taken off.  Apparently the same thing is going on in many other schools(same program) but I'm not sure how far it reaches.  I live in New York(near Cornell University).  If it isn't in your state or area, try doing little things to get people talking.  At my school, 2 kids started bringing plates from home for lunch instead of using foam trays that were just thrown out and don't bio-degrade.  At first a lot of people(mainly lunch staff) were angry but more and more started doing it.  If every school in the country started using even biodegradable trays, it would make a big difference and spark a lot of attention.  Also, if you asked some teachers to let you have 10 minutes at the beginning of class to talk, you could highlight some benefits of eco-friendly living and possibly get some people interested.  If you have a college in the area, see about having some professors come talk at your school(if it's an after-school meeting try seeing if some teachers will give extra credit for attendance) about the enviorment and global warming.  Just keep trying and eventually someone has to listen.

  4. Yeah go to www.icecap.us and free your mind. We are hurting the planet through this global warming nonsense.

  5. Your teachers are feeding you full of c**p.

A compiled list of all the sources can be seen here.  The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C -- a value large enough to wipe out most of the warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year's time. For all four sources, it's the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down.

World Temperatures according to the Hadley Center for Climate Prediction. Note the steep drop over the last year.Twelve-month long drop in world temperatures wipes out a century of warming

Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile -- the list goes on and on.

No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.

Scientists and researchers in climate and related fields, economists, policymakers, and business leaders, assembled at Times Square, New York City, participating in the 2008 International Conference on Climate Change” have listed their names to endorse the Manhattan Declaration on Climate Change. View the full text of the Manhattan Declaration and endorsers by visiting the International Climate Science Coalition website.

    They declare:

That current plans to restrict anthropogenic CO2 emissions are a dangerous misallocation of intellectual capital and resources that should be dedicated to solving humanity’s real and serious problems.

That there is no convincing evidence that CO2 emissions from modern industrial activity has in the past, is now, or will in the future cause catastrophic climate change.

  6. I know that this may seem a little lame but their is club that was started using the revenues created by the Capt. Planet series that ran during the 90s.  The group is geared to help teenagers start clubs to help the planet it offers awards and other attainable goals.  It includes a list of some great websites about enviromental responsibility.  You also need to check out the Capt. Planet Foundation link.  I think this is type of club you are looking for.  It has tips on what you can do to save the environment, and also if you can dream up a great idea to help out the foundation will help by paying your expenses.  I have also included a link to greenpeace students.  I don't know why I didn't think of them first.  They are an established organization that litterally hundreds of grass roots programs going on across the world.  I must warn you though they can at times be a bit radical with their views, ie living life a little to naturally.  But on the plus side they are very international and you may even be able to organize a speaker to come and talk to your school.  They came to mine back in '93.

    Some Good Ideas

Battery Recycling Drive: Phone Batteries, old batteries, old reusable batteries, any device that is rechargable ig old lap tops.

Plant an organic garden with plenty of CO2 hungry plants to offset emmissions.

    Adopt a highway

    Adopt a Stream

Fundraise to Purchase land for conservation

Do a charity drive.  Collecting cloths and other items to be given to the needy is green because those items do not end up is a land fill

Also like the previous poster look into the WWF they are a great organization and do a lot to help.  Don't listen to the people who are negative about going green.  Some people don't like change and they just won't do something different until everyone else has proven it will work.  The world needs people like you to prove that going green can work.

Edit: Also look up the movie "Inherit the Wind" it is about the scopes monkey trial.  I saw this question on your profile and the answer wasn't great so here is some more help.
