The above post is not true.  I volunteered at a rehab hospital at age 16.  Many high schools have a community service requirement.  You are old enough to volunteer.

Volunteering at a hospital is a lot of fun.  It isn't hard work.  All I did was transport the patients to their activities, and take them for walks outside, and just talked to them a lot.  A lot of patients are really lonely and just want someone to spend some time with them.

I know there are two major hospitals in Denton, you should try there.  Another option is the old folks home on Bonnie Brae.  Old folks homes always need people to volunteer.  And no, the volunteers don't do any of the gross stuff, you just basically read to them, help them do crafts, bring them their food, those kinds of things.

There are probably some animal shelters there that will let you volunteer also, but that will be really dirty work.
