  1. i don't understand why you're confused.

  2. If the ball hits the line, it's called 'line'. If the ball lands outside the lines, it's called a 'fault'

  3. instead of saying fault, you can say out, back, no, etc.

    line means it is in

  4. usually when people say line its good, other ways to say fault is nope, out, long, wide

  5. if they said "line" it's in.

    take them at their word.

  6. They really should not say line unless the point is over, and they are giving you the point.   Instead of fault, some players say out or wide or long.

  7. "Fault" means the same as "out", "wide" or "long." Or alternatively, a player may just put up their finger to show that the ball was out, and then they might show you how the ball was out by putting a hand out in the direction of where the ball was out.

I'm not sure why they say line. The only thing I can imagine is that the ball landed on the line and it is being said to tell the player(s) that the ball was good, as a ball that lands anywhere on the line (even if it's a quarter of a millimetre) is in.

  8. They shouldnt be saying "line" unless it hit the line and they want to tell you that it wasnt "out" or a "fault", instead it is "in" because the ball hit the line.

Most advanced players will not say "fault" when the serve is out. They will usually say "out", "no", "wide", "long", or alternatively just hold up one finger to indicate that the ball is out. Also, if it is obviously long or wide (by more than 6 inches or so) most advanced players will not say anything and get ready for the second serve because it was easy to see that the ball was out.
