I love the .45cal In fact I cary the SigSauer p220 But I have had my eye on a Ber.92FS for a little while now. I like the way it looks and how it fits my hand.. I am not a fan of 9mm or the 40 cal 96fs..but .. What is your opinion of the 92fs? I know the 9mm is ok with a 115 Gr. Jhp +p ammo but can the 92fs Handle that load?

  1. While I won't say I'm a fan of 9mm they have their place.  The Beretta 92 is a good gun, but it is just grip is thicker than I like.  If it fits you so much the better.

  2. Love the 92fs and they can handle the +p loads just fine.

I have the Taurus 99-FS and it has been a GREAT Gun.

  3. My first handgun purchase was in Dec of 1999, and Originally I thought I wanted a Beretta 92. My friend Jess Martin that owned the gun store here in town said simply, " why do you want to spend all that money, when you get the same thing in a Taurus?".  Lifetime warranty, and nearly two hundred cheaper than Beretta, why would anyone want the Beretta?

So that was that, and $426 later, I had my very own Taurus PT92AFS. I took it home and "played" with it as much as possible. A few days later I got to shoot it, and swore up and down there was a problem with it. I couldnt hit a thing. But I was told I just needed to practice as the 9mm is a little different than the Colt SA I was used to shooting. Sure enough, with countless thousands of rounds later, I can punch a 3" circle at 30 yards, standing, with 50 rounds. Not too shabby for a "crappy old Taurus". (You anti Taurus guys are as bad as anti-Glock guys)

No problems what so ever, but I have found it shoots better if you keep the slide rails oiled about every 100 rounds. I use the Hogue slip grip, as I have pretty big hands.

Both the Taurus and the Beretta will handle +p, as advertised in their prospective manuals, I have shot quite a bit of +p+ handloads in mine with no problem at all.

I think it is a bit too big for proper conceal carry. I actually gave this gun to my wife instead of an engagement ring(the trigger guard is like a ring right?)

I have been looking into getting a ported target barrel for it. ANy of you guys done that? I think the company name is Dragonfire.

I used to carry it in a Fobus paddle holster, but after I noticed some scarring on the trigger guard, that stopped.

All I can say is it is a GOOD GUN and I would recommend Taurus to anyone.

14000 rounds later, it is stilIl the most accurate semi-auto I own.

  4. I am also not a fan of the 9mm

But I love my Beretta 92 FS

I have tried and tried to like 9s and have gone through 2 Hi Powers ,a few Smiths and a Glock nothing but an old Star BM ever came as close to the love I have for 1911s than the Beretta
