  1. Try https://www.japantodoor.com

They have help me get one cheap from Yahoo Japan Auction!

I am now hooked in using them to get more Japanese DVD directly from Japan!

  2. you can buy an "all regions" player-ask at one of the larger retail stores or online- mine is a yamaha

  3. Yup. Different parts of the would have a different region code to play movies. The US is region 1 while Japan is region 2. So obviously most DVD players in the US are region 1 format and Japan are in region 2.

However, some DVD players are "region free" or "multi-region". You just have to see if the DVD player is one.

A quick search on amazon I found a multi region DVD player for under $50

    Good Luck!!

P.S. What did you get from Japan? Was it anime??

  4. The answer is in how the dvd was encoded.  If it was made in Japan, then it won't play on a US machine.  See if the big box stores sell such a player.  I doubt it.
