Is there any HDD recorder?

im not looking for a DVD/HDD recorder but one that only has HDD.

i want to be able to record directly from the tv. (No TiVOs)

  1. Still need PVR software and a PC to record onto any HDD.

    You make your own DVR which they call PVR. Need HDD 200GB or better. I recommend 320GB. Depends how much you want to record and if you want to achive it (keep it stored)

    PC CPU should be 1GHz and 2GHz if you want to use the PC to attach to your TV to playback the recordings.

    HDD - USB 2.0 External Drive

    HDD - USB 2.0 External Case you put your own HDD in it.

    HDD - NAS - Network Attached Storage some have USB ports

    PVR software comes in to forms - freeware, opensource and one you pay for (shareware)

    Which one is the best for the purpose you want to do..

    SAGETV you have to buy and you can try it for 15 days if you decide think it is right for you. The program is very easy to setup.

    You need a tuner card which will capture all video from CATV or SATV.

    There are USB2.0 devices that can be attached to recorde onto a HDD also. http:\\www.hauppauge.com
