  1. Yes, but the casino always has advantage

  2. Oh yes. Two caveats:

    1. Even the most skilled player cannot beat the odds 100% of the times. The best players get as close as possible to the maximum return, but nobody can beat the game consistently, because the games were set up that way.

    2. The effect of skill might be mathematically monstrous, but the real effect might be miniscule. For example, an expert at game X might get a 10% return vs a noob at 5%, which is 100% more return, but in reality the return is very small.

  3. Most games, there is some skill.  The skill is all dealing with being able to calculate odds, mathimatical formulas and the most over looked skills, money management, and knowing when to quit.  Please note, I said some skill, all games, even poker which is the most skill intensive one in a casino, have an element of luck.  How the cards come, etc.... You use your skills to stay alive until you can get lucky, at least that is what most folks say (me included). Some games the only skill involved is money management  and knowing when to quit.

  4. Though you can't control what cards you're dealt or what icon you're poker machine lands on, there is some skill. Like in Poker, you could get  a bad hand but with enough skill you could out bluff your opponents and potentially take the pot. That's all I can think of.

  5. It is all about the probabilities and the better gamblers understand how to minimise the house edge - if not try to get a positive edge (usually by cheating.....). But that sort of thing aside, a good gambling strategy will usually get the house edge down to 0.5-2% for most casino games.

If you can play perfect basic strategy, the house edge is less than 1%. So while a good basic strategy player might still be losing in the greater long run... he is going to last alot longer than the idiot splitting his tens.. So I would say that skill is involved in casino games.

  6. It depends on the game, for instance, slots, absolutely not.

Blackjack, a little tiny bit, unless you're card counting, in which case that requires an extreme amount of skill!

  7. Yes, I think the most skill-involved game is Blackjack.  Blackjack strategy sometimes may cut the house edge to 98% payout rate. If you use double strategy in a short time, you will win money.

please remember, always split A. always don't split two 10, etc. always split two 8, always don't split two 9, stand if deal has a 5 or 6

  8. yes, take poker for example. you need to know all the moves and the math probabilities and be able to read your opponent. of course you could still just get lucky.

  9. First you need to divide casino games into two catagories house games and non-house games.

Non-house games would include things like poker and sports wagering. These are considered skill games and people can make a very good living doing them.

House games are unbeatable in the long run. They have a house advantage and no amount of skill can overcome that. This does not mean the game has no skill.

Consider blackjack. It is impossible to overcome the house advantage at blackjack over a long run using skill but a lack off skill can increase the house advantage. Hitting when you shouldn't and staying put when you should hit can make you lose faster so knowing the correct action is a skill. You still lose in the long run but you lose at a slower rate.

The same is true of most house games. Skill won't let you win but it can slow down your losing.

  10. The primary skill in casinos is playing the games with the best odds, there may be some skill involved in that by either askign somebody who knows, or calculating them yourself.

There is skill involved in counting cards, and it can turn the tables on the casinos when dont correctly.

There may be skill in bacccarat.

There is definately skill in poker.

It is possible to apply skill in selecting a slot machine but not by playing it.

You could apply skil to playing strategy of video poker.

    No skill in keno

Generall, the skill you apply in a casino will help protect yoru money.

-that comment about splitting pairs in blackjack is garbage information and shoudl be ignored

-also the return on blackjack can exceed 99.6% when played correctly depending on the game.

-the casinos does not ALWAYS have the advantage, they let it slip sometimes via promotions and management errors.

  11. absolutely
