Is there any adapter to convert a fire wire cable in to a usb input to your pc?

i am going on holiday very soon and i am taking my laptop but it does not have an input for a firewire cable for my camera is there any way you can convert a firewire cable the end to the pc into a usb end

  1. If your laptop has an available PCMCIA slot:

    If your laptop has an available Express slot:

    If your laptop has no expansion slot at all, you cannot transfer - directly - miniDV tape based video from the camcorder to the laptop. Take lots of tape and edit later when you get to a machine with a firewire port.

    The USB/firewire converters/adapters will not work transferring DV.


  2. There is no adapters as both technologies are different.  However, you can get a card for your PC that can have both connections but you would have to install this card.
