Is there any advantage for foreign investor to set up a company in Australia? Or there is more benefits that if the company is owned by an Australian resident?

It depends on the kind of business you are trying to set up.  Depending on whether it is a Corporation, LLC, or Sole proprietor, makes a big difference.  Also if it is a corporation, the type of corporation it is makes a big difference.
