In 1206, the first internal combustion engine was described by Al-Jazari. By 1876, the concept had been developed and applied to carriages renamed as automobiles. In that last 130 or so years, we've tried electric motors. Have we REALLY allow 800 years to pass without ANY newer/better concept? Is anyone developing something more advanced than the antiquated technologies we are currently using? Did I miss something?

  1. ,.,.,

  2. There have been a number of new inventions. The latest from a guy in New Zealand. But guess what? The oil companies buy them out.We have vechiles that can run on water, steam, hydrogen etc.Perhaps when oil is longer available we will welcome these new inventions.

  3. don't forget the steam engine, the turbine engine, and the sterling cycle engine. as for newer concepts, they have been around for sometime but the technology has yet to catch up to the concepts. look how long it took for the internal combustion engine to go from concept to reality. this is why we need to keep pushing the limits of the current technology, so that when materials breakthroughs come along, they can be instrumental in ushering in new designs based on new theories.
