  1. I know there are, but they will most likely want you to pay an extra deposit to cover any damage your pet may cause. Your best bet is probably to rent from a private owner, rather than from an apartment complex such as mustang village or such. On campus housing at Cal Poly (the dorms, cerro vista, and poly canyon village) do NOT allow pets at all what so ever. However, my cousin lived in Valencia apartments a few years back where they allowed her to keep her one cat with the permission of her roommates. She was an outstanding student and very responsible person so they made an exception for her. I believe the management has changed since then unfortunately. My parents own a condo in SLO area where they give tenants the option of having a small pet with an extra security deposit. So, you can find individual landlords who are more understanding. It can't hurt to go in with letters of recommendation to prove you are responsible and capable of maintaining the house/apartment and having a pet at the same time. If you find a place that you like, but they say no pets, just remember exceptions CAN be made. Don't always just take no for an answer the first time. Ask questions about what you can do. Go above and beyond to prove yourself, and sometimes people will change their minds. Good luck.

  4. go to rent.com and you can check a box that says allows pets and it will show you all the ones that do!
