if you don't like playing videogames then there is a really big benefit in simply being the BlueRay player. Otherwise, it really doesn't matter which one you get.

Just buy the PS3, even if you don't play the games, ther's a blue player in it.

It depends on what you're going to do with it: if you want to upscale DVD quality, then buy the stand-alone BluRay player.  If cost is an issue, then buy a ps3.

The only benefit is having a gaming system as well as blu-ray. My FIL bought one because the PS3 was cheaper then any of the blu-ray players out at the time. If your a gamer.. go for the PS3
