  1. No, it actually makes it worse as you get bumped 4 times instead of two.

  2. i have a firebird and the front end is rather long. if i go over some speed bumps straight on the front end of my car scrapes when the rear tires go over. no matter how fast or slow i go. if i go at an angle i avoid the blood curdling scraping noise. it may be a little uncomfortable but worth saving the damage.

  3. if your low you will scrape less at an angle. I prefer to just never go over them. I also don't go to businesses that have steep driveway entrances.

  4. Approach the speed bump as if your car is very low to the ground.

Take the speed bump at an angle or not, then slowly and gently take your vehicle over the speed bump, like gliding over.

  5. There is a definite advantage in going over speed bumps on an angle, this is  demonstrated in  the videos provided by four wheeler clubs or the military,  or as in the hummer all terrain demonstration. The benefit comes from having three wheels on the same plane at the same time, to prove this go over a speed bump head on, square at it. The vehicle has a tendency to hop over the speed bump, which the idea, to reduce speed., and obviously the faster, the more  push upward the vehicle  receives it will loose contact with the surface if the speed is sufficient. Try it on an angle and the push is less because contact is maintained to the surface by three of the wheels and the hop is almost eliminated, especially in a vehicle with 4 wheel independent suspension. Less upward force is applied to the vehicle reducing the reaction to the obstacle. "Off Road Wars" is a video that demonstrates this in real time.

  6. people who go over speed bumps at an agle do it because there cars are so low that they cant go into it straight so they go in at an angle so there car doesnt get stuck but if you have a car or truck that is high off the ground just go straight but if your car is low go at an angle cause you will get stuck trust me.

  7. If you have independent suspension or if you are low to the ground.  The only reason if you are low to the ground is because you can still have a front tire somewhat on the speed bump as the back tire starts coming upon the speed bump

  8. aside from possibly getting ticketed for not keep control of your vehicle,a point violation in most states and it will increase your insurance, theres no benefit from crossing a speed bump  at an angle what so ever, all it really does it put more stress on your cars frame.
