Is there any benefit to using higher octane gas (above 87) for a 1994 Buick Century?

  1. If your car is recommended to use regular then you would see absolutely NO BENEFIT.

    Octane rating does NOT measure energy content, quality or how much it cleans the engine.  It measure absolutely NOTHING other than its resistance to self ignition (from high compression engine - like turbo).

    P.S.  If you really want to do some good for your engine, (1) get a tune up (2) use fuel injector cleaner few times a year.  They really work.  If your fuel injector is dirty it will decrease your MPG and you might fail the emission.


  2. nothing noticable....if you had a caddy northstar or an aurora like i have u will see a difference using regular instead of premium...not a huge amount but its noticable
