  1. Yes, it improves your muscular strength and muscular endurance. Also, it makes running with out it on feel so easy.

I have to do this as part of my training, but i only do it in winter.

  2. It'll improve leg strength. Better to use weights though as then the weight will be distributed evenly. You should also note it's not too good for your knees.

  3. It applies more weight to your body putting more pressure on your legs.

This makes your legs work harder and become stronger,if you keep at this you will build up great stamina aswell and when you decide to take the packpack off one day you will find that you can run a lot longer and faster.

Mind you backpacks can be very uncomforatable to run with.

  4. Advantages:

    More calories burnt

    Works your muscles harder

    Improves strength

You wont have to run as far for the same level of tiredness!

    Disadvantages:

*Will put a lot of stress through your joints* (lower spine, hips, kness, ankles)

*May lead to muscular strain/ joint injury*

    Will cause uneven muscle gain

You might look a little odd!

My advice is to keep the running & strength/ weight training seperate. Sure it'll take longer but it's not worth it for the injury risk especially if you run on concrete.

  5. Yes lots! Makes your body work much harder

  6. Well it help develop your back muscles even more than you running alone.

Also if you run with a backpack on then when you take it of to run for a marathon, you will feel a lot lighter on your feet
