Is there any benefits to increase the length of my driver shaft by one inch?

  1. The downside usually is a decrease in accuracy which is definitely not  a benefit. The benefit may be using one less club to the par 4s. if you are in the fairway. Now you have a decision to make.


  2. the only benefit that you get by increasing the shaft length by 1" is increase in the distance.

    Prob the other intangible benefit is when you hit the bomber, you defeat your golf mates mentally :p

    other than that, nothing else you can gain out of the increase shaft length.

  3. It really depends on your ability to hit the fairway with the current shaft length.  If you already show a tendency to be erratic with driver accuracy, just forget about adding the inch.  The extra couple of yards gained by adding the inch would be spoiled in the rough or worse.  Balls will always roll further in the fairway.  Don't hassle yourself over a maximum of eight meaningless yards.

  4. Forgiveness vs distance. Trade off of a longer shaft is control, you can drive the ball 8-10 yards further with one inch longer shaft but you would probably find you balls more in tall grass.
