  1. Really nothing much.

The only difference between them is the 40GB doesn't have backward computability so it can't play ps2 games.

And doesn't have the 3 memory card slots.

  2. here is a chart showing you the differences between ALL the ps3 stock keeping units

    http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/26/tabula...

  3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PS3#Retail_...

(The 2nd 80GB on the chart is the 80GB Core which is a 40GB with 2x the hard drive.)

  4. yes

i have the 60 but they dont make it anymore

    go 80

    trust me

  5. Well the largest difference(aside from the Hard Drive size) is that only the 60GB PS3 will actually play PS2 games, the 80GB(US version only, with the chrome trim) system can only play an emulator of PS2, which is mostly useless, and the 40GB will not play them at all.  The 40GB system also does not have flash card readers on it and only 2 USB ports in the front, limiting functionality.  The other very big difference is that both the 40GB and the 60GB are no longer in production, so it is highly unlikely that you could just go to a store and buy one(unless they have back-stock for some reason), however you can still get a 60GB off the net at several different sites.  Any other info that you might want on specifications etc. can be found on the site below.  Hope that helps!
