I've been trying to plan a trip to Bar harbor / Pei for my grandmother... now this is a little complicated.

My grandmother has Motion sickness and can't ride a bus unless she is in the front seat or else she gets violently ill (yes, I know, she's crazy). My grandfather has heart conditions that prevent him from flying.

My question is, is there ANY form of boat / yacht / ferry that runs from Boston to Bar Harbor. Any answers from personal experience would be awesome.

I am buying them a trip to PEI for their 50th wedding anniversary, and have about 1750$ set aside for accomodations in pei and about 500$ in travel fee's... so money isn't REALLY an issue, however it does limit me from chartering a boat or something extravagant like that.

Thanks a million.

  1. There are a few cruise lines that originate at Boston and travel to , Portland, Maine, Bar Harbor, Maine, Halifax, Nova Scotia, and return to Boston, Massachusetts . BOSTON - ST.JOHN, NEW BRUNSWICK,CANADAR SHEDIC AND PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND  CHARLOTTETOWN AND MONCTON is another itinerary. Not sure if you can book a one way, or partial trip on them.

I recommend checking with a travel agent for a specific answer to your question.  Good luck!!

  2. something to keep in mind is that the stretch of water you're talking about can get very rough especially for such a long trip--if car motion gets her sick i'm sure that long of a boat ride on such rough water would make her worse
