Is there any book on cars that can inform you about repairs, etc for young drivers?

I am a young female wanting to know more about cars so I can avoid costly repairs etc. Any books or sites that can help me??

There is a series of book called, haynes manuals. They are specific to your car type and tell you everything you need to know.

To avoid being ripped off, you need to know a LOT in my opinion.  So I'd suggest fixing your car yourself.  No substitute for that.

Now - will you make mistakes?  Maybe.  But you'll learn.

Auto Repair: for dummies. Best book you can start out with. It explains to you everything about your car and how it works, it provides detailed diagrams too. Honestly though if it is a big repair have a certified mechanic look at it. Easy things you can do on your own are change all the fluids, filters, brakepads, rotors, spark plugs, etc...Don't mess around too much under the hood.
