Is there any broadcasting on the train and subway and bus in Paris and Nice of France?

When the train inside Metro, Rer, bus arrives at the destination, is there any broadcast and is there any station name written on the wall (when it arrives, can I have the chance to see the name before getting off?)

i don't know French pronuciation, i am afraid if there is any signs to show what the next station is.

Please help.

  1. YEs, everywhere in Europe there are broadcast (announcements) of the next destination, sometimes this includes (ENGLISH). Yes, there are signs of where you are, where you are going and maps eveywhere of how to get from point A to point B.

Just about everybody that works in the public transport industry speaks ENGLISH, so it is easy to ask questions when you are there. This includes PARIS!

Don't worry!  You will get around just fine, besides you will probably find that it is actually FUN!

  2. There are always signs at the destinations of metro, RER and buses in Paris. Some, but not all, trains and buses have an announcement. Metro lines and most buses have a map of the line so you can see where you are in relation to your destination. For RER, you need to watch the signs at the stations you pass.

As far as I remember, buses in Nice are basically the same as in Paris.

  3. I don't know about Nice. But I do live in Paris so can answer that part of your question :

On Parisian buses, a lot (but not all) now have announcements as you arrive at each stop. They also have route maps displayed so your can anticipate the next stop.

Metro trains for the most part have no announcements, but they have clear route indicators on the walls, and you can easily see the station names on the platform walls as you arrive. Same with RER trains (some of which have audio announcements as well).

    Hope that helps

Edit : The nearest metro station to Rue de l'Echiquier is Bonne Nouvelle (on both lines 8 and 9). There are no announcements on these lines. But it's really easy to see the station names on the platform and you have ample time to get off. No need to worry.
