Question:

Is there any chance I could get a job just by sending my CV out to employers?

Is there any way that someone would actually look at my CV and ask me in for an interview?

I really need a job to start saving up for my university course.(not to mention a holiday) - I've searched everywhere online... Monster, jobcentreplus, reed etc. and nothing's come up for a couple of months.

Does anyone know anything else I can try?

Thank you so much.

  1. Send it with a good cover letter, especially if you are talking about a true CV, Cirriculum Vitae and not using CV for a generic term for resume. CV's are in a class of their own as far as resumes go. visit http://www.bestemploymentresources.com to learn how to write an effective cover letter.

  2. Well, you can, if you are very lucky. BUT it can be a soul destroying exercise. The bottom line is that at least 50% of unsolicited CV's will go straight into the bin. Next point is that most firms do not just have vacancies sitting there waiting for someone to fill them. If you use the post it can be an expensive exercise!  You can be lucky though.

When people say there are no jobs around, what they mostly mean is that there are none that they want to do!  Not too many University entrants are likely to be applying to their local supermarket for a job as a trolley collector for instance.

  3. You'd most probably have to send in a note with it, but its best to go there in person to give the impression that you're willing to go there just to apply, otherwise it seems like you're just handing out CVs to everywhere you can... which isnt good. make the employer feel special!!!

  4. Yeah, definitely give it a go. As long as it's got a good covering letter with it, they will most likely take the time to read it.

  5. Yes. Thats how I gget my jobs all the time?

  6. Yeah thats what I did, Also ask for an application if you go in personally, then send it off with anotehr copy of your CV to show your interested.

  7. yes there is definitely a chance so keep sending them, have you tried a local employment office? if not then try, hope this helps x

  8. Walk into Recruitment Agents and be outgoing they always give the jobs to the people they like.

You need to be exactly what they are looking for and they will give you work within 24 hours,

    you have got to be

Really flexible ie will work any hours any days and any kind of job be flexible with the salary to dont turn anything down as they will not call you again

Hopefully you can drive as this puts you to the top of the list.

    Be willing to travel.

I know it sounds unfair but its just the way it is, if you do anything they ask of you once you have built up a good relationship with them you can be more choosy.

Most of all make sure the company they send you to are happy with your work, if you get good feedback from a client they will then send you to the best companys on the books so you can impress them.

  9. Yes - most online recruitment agencies in your area will let you upload your c.v  - then you just wait for the phone calls.
