Is there any cheap places for a family with 8 children to move to in the state of Quintana Roo Mexico?

We are looking to move to mexico in 2 years. Our income will come from the US and will be about $4000 a month. Does this seem to be a reasonable amount to live on? We will either homeschool or send the children to private school. We would like to move with in an hour of the beach and want to live near a small village but not far from a city, somewhere in the state of Quintana Roo. Can anyone give me advice on this topic?

does it has to be at Quintana Roo? the best place in this states is Chetumal but you will not like th city (trust me) there is nothing to do, otherwise in Merida Yucatán, which is very close to Quintana Roo has the best eduacational level in all schools, the education, fun and houses are much cheaper than Quintana Roo it is a very safe city, I have lived in cancun quintana roo and merida yucanta, and I really prefer merida, for example, one of the best schools in merida is around $300 dls per month and in cancun $600 dls and is not so good as the one that is in merida,

if you are thinkind in renting a house

Cancun $600 dls (in a good zone) per month

Merida $350 dls per month

the city is so clean and safe, I think you will love it, the only bad thing is that most of the people don't speak english

I was just there in March and I thought that Chetumal was rather warm and it wasn't the summertime.  However it 's close to the water.  I liked the Lake Bacalar area which is about an hour from Chetumal and is smaller in size but not that small and there's always Chetumal for the big purchases.  The Lake is the second largest fresh water lake in Mexico. I believe that it took us about 6 hours to drive down from Cancun area.

Chetumal is the capital of the state and lower in costs than all the tourist destinations of Cancun and the Riviera Maya. Click the link below to see a couple properties down there.  cancun was the first to explode as a tourist destination, the Riviera Maya was second Chetumal will be next.
