Is there any commercial travel to iraq yet..if not, where is closest civilian airport serviced?

I am thinking of taking a temp nursing contract in kuwait while my husband is deployed to iraq.curious about travel in that area.

Kuwait City

You can't travel in Iraq.  Kuwait should be ok.

There are commercial flights to Kuwait.  Check Yahoo Travel or other online travel services.  I know a man who works in Kuwait and he has never had any problems in that region.

Kuwait City. It is only 2 hours from Basra (Iraq's most southern city) by car. it is hard to get a visa to Saudi Arabia(it is far anyways). and there is a huge Syrian desert between Iraq and both Syria and Jordan. Ankara (Turkey) and Tehran (Iran) are also far.
