Is there any cruise that is better than your first?

Seriously, on our first cruise, we didn't know anything, missed out on most of what was offered on the ship, didn't go to the shows because we thought they would be more offensive than they are, etc...

But, I am still not sure that our cruises after that were anywhere near the same experience.

  1. I have been on about 20 cruises on 4 different cruise lines and the last 15 cruises have definitely been much better than the first couple.   My first two cruises where on NCL ships that were old and the cabin was like a matchbox.  The ships had none of the nice things that are available on ships now like huge gymnasiums, multiple pools and hot tubs, balcony - veranda cabins, the internet, etc.  Even the beds on ships these days are luxurious compared to the thin mattress bunks in those first two cabins.  The ships did not even have balconies and most of the outside cabins had only a porthole.  Plus the prices are much better now than they were 20 years ago when I went on my first cruise.   So your first, if it was within the last 5 years, was much better than my first.

  2. You have the magic and wonder of your first cruise. I have been on 6 and can still remember how big the ship was, it was amazing. Yes, I feel I'm a little jaded now, but also I feel better prepared to pick and choose what I want to do and what I can miss (like the hairy chest contest)I think what I like is to watch my 12 year old on the ship, no matter how many times she cruises it always seems new and exciting to her

  3. Your first cruise is the one that remains in your memory as the outstanding experience that it was because it was such a novel experience and so different from anything you had done previously. That's why we get hooked on cruising.

Since our first cruise we have cruised many times and each time there is something different to remember, different places to visit and new people to meet.

We have stayed at 5* hotels and although it was brilliant, it wasn't a good as being on a cruise.

Something that I have seen on cruisecritic.com and agree with, "A bad day on a cruise is better than a good day at work"

  4. My second cruise, I felt for sure more aware of what there was. It was on a completly different cruise line, but I made sure I did more research and found out all the information I needed to before taking that venture. I loved my first cruise, but I can honestly say, my second cruise was absolutely amazing!

  5. Yes & No. First cruise was special as you are taking everythung in and finding out what cruises are all about. Each cruise after that you know what to do and not do plus, you are still learning new things. I have been on 22 cruises and still look forward to each new cruise. Plus, you are always meeting new people.

    Hope this helps.

  6. I haven't been on a second cruise yet, but I do know it will be better than my first. Why? Because my first cruise was when I was 10, so now almost 24 I can drink, which will make the cruise ten times more fun! Maybe I won't remember as much this time around, but whatever! Haha!
