Question:

Is there any cure for ringing ears?

I've had ringing ears all my life. I know that when I was small--two years old, if not younger--I had a terrible double-ear infection. More recently, I had a repeat of that lovely little infection five years ago, and if ever I go on a plane with a head cold, my ears feel like they're exploding (gross, I know).

I hear ringing in my ears wherever I am, and while it's certainly not killing me, I would love to be able to just hear...nothing. For once in my life...

For the record, I do not listen to loud music. I am scared to lose my hearing (seeing as it's not that perfect to begin with). I'm pretty sure the ringing is a result of the recurring ear infections.

Anyway, I was wondering if it is possible to get the ringing to go away. Has anyone ever had theirs cured, or heard of someone whose ears stopped ringing? I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks!

  1. Constant ear infections could be caused from a problem with your TMJ.  If your doctor tells you that this could be a contributing factor, try to avoid sticky foods, or foods like pizza, and bubble gum to keep the stress off the joints. It could also be from a cold recovery.  Sinus drainage can cause eustachian tube inflamation.  My tinnitus is being treated with prescription nasal spray and it has helped some. Try visiting an Ear, nose, throat specialist, they will be able to help with this.  I don't think there's a way to get completely rid of it, unless it's temporary, due to allergies or other causes. Get your TMJ checked since youve had this for a while.

  2. you probably have Tinnitus.  that's when you hear noise in your ear that isn't there. i have it, and it can sometimes get worse, and sometimes goes away. the doctors have no idea what causes it, and they don't know how to fix it. it is so annoying that some people almost go crazy with it.

  3. if it is tinnitus you should take ginko biloba. i have tinnitus as well. this is what i take. you should also see a dr to rule out all other possibilities.

  4. there is medicines for that, ask your doctor,it is a result from medications.

  5. Some antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications work well for tinnitus

Also Gingko Biloba & Zinc 50mg have been known to ease tinnitus.

Try calling Invite Health 1-800-724-5566 ask to speak to a nutritionist and ask their advice.  They're usually very good.

    Good luck

  6. take ribo flavanoid

  7. I used to have tinnitus and it stopped on its own. you should see an ENT to be evaluated. they can identify why you have it. I had a bad string of infections a few years ago and ended up having tubes put it. I really haven't had any ringing issues since. I don't know what to tell you besides see the doc about it

  8. I think it,s called  tintinitist?  or high blood pressure.i would see a dr.

  9. a friend of mine had this problem you should go and see a ENT they were able to help her. G/L
