Is there any danger, surfing in hawaii?

If you have to ask that question, you obviously know nothing about surfing. That's okay, but don't fool yourself and think that you are going to take a trip to Hawaii and go surfing. You can rent a board, and be a dangerous, "kook', who is more likely to hurt himself or others. If you want to try a surfing experience while on holiday there, you can pay for some lessons. They rent you the board to learn on, and you can have some fun. You won't become a SURFER but you can have FUN!

If you take the lessons option, there is no danger, the instructor will watch out for you, and everything will be fine. If you just rent a board and strike out on your own, you do so at your own risk. I have been surfing for 42 years, and there are far too many dangerous people in the water.
