Well obviously there no definite way,but I am going to post some info about my school work so far and you can then post some things I can do to really beef it up for them.Seeing as thats the only college I want to go to;and if I do not get in I will be heartbroken.

Okay im going into sophmore year in highschool.

Freshman year I sorta took as a joke..I know very foolish of me.

My overall GPA was a 2.863

Freshman year theres levels 1,2,3,4(ones the best)

I was in all two.

Now im going into Sophmore year and the levels are honors,1,2,3,4

and I am taking mostly lvl 1's with two lvl 2's

I play two sports

I participate in 2 clubs

I also attend a youth group at my church.

Also I want the honest truth on what you think my chances of getting in are..

Thanks so much!

  1. Honestly...no. NYU is an incredibly prestigious school. EVERY SINGLE YEAR of high school matters. Your freshman GPA stands no chance against the competitive applicants.

Yeah, if you work super hard, you may be able to pull up your GPA. But they are still going to see your freshman grades...don't forget that. And since you are in the more challenging classes, you are expected work harder than usual.

You need to get interesting. Two sports is good, 2 clubs--if you really participate in them and devote time to them--it's good. Youth group..ok. But those extracurriculars don't stand out at NYU. Find something you love and pursue it...volunteer work would be nice. Or a steady part-time job.

    Good luck

  2. If you bring your GPA up significantly, and also do well on the SATs, you stand a chance. If you do those two things, your one poor year won't hurt you. It will also help if you have a special talent, or if you do something of depth in one of your extra curriculars.

So from now on, focus on your schoolwork. If you feel you are not doing as well as you should, ask for help immediately. Don't wait until you fall behind or fail a test.

In your sophomore year, take on a few extra curriculars. In junior year, keep those that you like best, and try to do something of depth for one of them. It could be becoming an officer, or running an event for them, doing something significant in your church, or whatever you'd like, but something of depth.
