  1. I've played both Korne World Eaters and Death Guard Plague Marines for some time now at the 1750 level and have had more fun with the Death Guard, although both can be very powerful armies.

Khorne is very good at the assault with the furious charge and can pack some good short range punch with plasma pistls and power weapons. Since you need to get them into the mix you will probably also need rhino's for each squad and then something to support the rhino advance and cover them with fire, perhaps a vindicator, predator, or defiler.

Personally I would go with Nurgle/Death Guard for the following reason- they are above and beyond tough and refuse to die which can be very unnerving to your opponent. With their bolters, plasma gun and melta gun options they excel at close to medium fire ranges and can hold their own in the assault with bolt pistols, close combat weapons and blight grenades- keep them in cover when they are assaulted to go simo and they will hold up with their toughness of five, armor save, and feel no pain.

Which is where they really excel. With a toughness of five bolters will be wounding them 5+, and then you get your save, fail that and you get feel no pain. I personally love frustrating my opponents when they light up one of my squads with rapid fire botlers only to kill nobody.

Now, like Khorne you will need units to cover your advancing marines and for this I go with three obliterators each as a heavy choice- this way I can deal with vehicles by forming las cannons, marines by plasma guns, and hordes with flame throwers. The two wounds of the oblits and a 3+/5+ save also isn’t bad. For an HQ I take Typhus and as an Elite the forge world dreadnought. Typhus is perhaps too expensive for competitive play and the dread stinks from being unpredictable but since I am playing a pure Death Guard army I feel like I need them in there for flavor.
