  1. both are single speed. fixies don't freewheel, so you can't coast. you have to keep pedaling..


  2. Fixed gear refers to the cog being fixed on the rear wheel.  Single speed usually means its freewheel.  Usually a hub that has fixed gear will be a flip flop hub and the other side you can put a freewheel cog.  Pretty cool eh?

  3. Single speed refers to a freewheeling hub. Fixed won't freewheel.
