Is there any difference between hd tv 720p and hd tv 1080i?

i mean any difference that the human eye can realize or notice ....... and if you were playing with your ps3 or xbox 360 on 720p hd tv would you see any big difference if it was on hd tv 1080i

  1. To the casual viewer, no. Technically, yes. That is why you'll find 720p more prevalent on the smaller screens, because the lower resolution is more difficult to discern. Even though 1080i is interlaced (as opposed to 720p's progressive lines of resolution) the number of lines of resolution outweight the means in which they relate to each other.

    In short, it would depend on the size of the screen as to whether you would really notice a difference. A 50" would definitely display much better in 1080i, but it would be a more difficult to tell the difference on a 22".  


  2. Today, it is very hard to find a 1080i TV. Most TVs are either 720p/1080i or 1080p.

    A 1080i -only TV has about 540 lines of resolution. A 720p, has 720. For small TVs, it probably makes no difference. The larger the size, the easier will be to see the difference. Same applies to 720p vs 1080p TVs.
